Threadfin Butterflyfish

Chaetodon auriga
About the species

A widespread butterflyfish with a white body crossed by diagonal dark chevrons, a yellow rear and a trailing thread on the dorsal fin. A dark eye-bar and false eyespot help confuse predators. It picks at coral polyps, worms and algae across shallow Red Sea reefs.
