Where the data in the catalogue comes from, and what we do (and don't) verify before publishing.
Every species in the catalogue is tagged with its IUCN status. The status is sourced from the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species and refreshed each edition.
Marine-life probabilities are aggregated from sightings logged by signed-in divers and verified by Cartographer-tier moderators. Unverified sightings exist but don't move probability.
Depth ranges, currents, and seasonal notes are sourced from public marine charts (UKHO, GEBCO) and cross-checked with local dive operators.
