About this site

Sha'ab Maksur is an elongated reef on the exposed outer edge of Fury Shoals, famed for its dramatic vertical walls dropping into the blue and a southern plateau swept by current. Its open-water position draws pelagic action: oceanic whitetip and grey reef sharks, occasional hammerheads, dolphins and even whale sharks. The steep east and west walls are encrusted with vibrant soft corals and gorgonians.
