About this site

Abu Galawa Kebir is a large reef whose signature feature is the wreck of the Tienstin (Tien Hsing), a 36-metre steam harbour tug built in Shanghai in 1935 that sank in 1943 and now lies fused into the reef in shallow water around 12-18 metres. The coral-overgrown hull, with its mast reaching towards the surface, teems with glassfish and reef life. A protected lagoon and surrounding ergs make for an easy, atmospheric wreck-and-reef dive.
