Masked Pufferfish

Arothron diadematus
About the species

A Red Sea endemic puffer, pale grey with a striking black mask across the eyes and around the gills and dorsal fin. When threatened it gulps water to inflate into a balloon. Its skin and organs carry deadly tetrodotoxin, so it should never be handled or eaten.
