A robust Red Sea parrotfish with a blunt, steep forehead and a beak-like fused mouth used to scrape algae from coral. Terminal males glow turquoise and emerald, often seen biting reef rock with audible crunches. By night they wrap themselves in a mucus cocoon to mask their scent from predators.
