The iconic flagship surgeonfish of the Red Sea, striped in fine blue-grey lines with vivid orange pectoral patches. A pair of razor-sharp scalpels at the tail base can slash deeply in defence. Highly territorial, it patrols the reef crest and will charge intruders, including divers.
